Yellowhead Tribal College
ABOUT THE LIBRARY
The Yellowhead Tribal College Library actively supports the teaching and learning community at Yellowhead Tribal College by promoting the culture and languages of our four member nations. We are committed to service excellence in our delivery of resources, information literacy instruction, and academic support.
YELLOWHEAD TRIBAL COLLEGE LIBRARY MISSION
Yellowhead Tribal College Library supports the mission of the College, which is to deliver accredited programs that meet the needs of its students and communities while nurturing First Nations culture and traditions.
Yellowhead Tribal College Library's mission is therefore to:
Support the program curricula of the College and provide information resources and recreational reading materials to Yellowhead Tribal College students, staff, and communities.
Yellowhead Tribal College Library's primary mandate is to collect and provide access to a diversity of materials in a variety of formats that support the academic programs and individual courses taught at the College. The Library also aims to serve the information and reading needs of the Yellowhead Tribal College communities (Alexander, Alexis, O'Chiese, and Sunchild) whose members may not have easy access to a public library. The Library is also developing an extensive Indigenous Collection, which is available to Yellowhead Tribal College students, faculty, staff, Elders, and interested researchers from outside the College community.
OUR COLLECTION
Our physical collection contains approximately 18,500 items: books, graphic novels, CD’s, DVD’s magazines and print journals. Students, staff and community members also have access to our Indigenous Collection of works by and about Indigenous Peoples.
In addition, thanks to the generous support of the University of Alberta and Alberta Advanced Education, students can access electronic databases via Lois Hole Campus Alberta Digital Library (LHCADL) and The Alberta Library (TAL) Academic and Special Libraries Universal Core. The First Nations Information Connection (FNIC) connects students to our online catalogue, has guides to Indigenous resources and more.
