JOB TITLE: Admission Officer (Temporary, 1-Year Coverage)

ABOUT YELLOWHEAD TRIBAL COLLEGE

Yellowhead Tribal College (YTC) is an inclusive, Indigenous-led post-secondary institution

located in Treaty 6 territory. Established in 1986 by the Yellowhead Tribal Council, the college

provides academic upgrading, certificates, diplomas, and degrees in a supportive learning

environment that values Indigenous cultures, languages, and traditions.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Registrar, the Admission Officer supports prospective and current students

throughout the admissions process. This temporary position is for a one-year leave coverage,

with the possibility of an additional six-month extension.

The successful candidate will assist with student recruitment, admissions, application

processing, record maintenance, and student support while working in a fast-paced, teamoriented

environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide information on programs, admission requirements, and student services;

  • Guide applicants through the admissions and enrollment process;

  • Participate in recruitment activities, presentations, and community outreach events;

  • Process applications and maintain accurate student records;

  • Follow up with prospective students and support enrollment initiatives;

  • Collaborate with college departments to coordinate admissions services;

  • Ensure admissions deadlines and documentation requirements are met;

  • Manage textbook inventory and coordinate textbook distribution each term; and

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma in an education-related field or an equivalent combination of education and

    experience.

  • Experience in student services, admissions, recruitment, or a related administrative role.

  • Knowledge of post-secondary admissions processes and Indigenous cultures.

  • Strong communication, public speaking, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.

ASSETS

  • Experience working in a post-secondary environment.

  • Proficiency with Student Information Systems (SIS) and Ellucian software.

  • Fluency in an Indigenous language.

EMPLOYMENT DETAILS

  • Full-time (35 hours per week)

  • Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

  • YTC is located at 303, 10045 – 156 ST NW in Edmonton, Alberta
