Program Description

This program prepares you to become a professional Practical Nurse with unique skills and knowledge to work effectively with Aboriginal people.You will meet all Practical Nurse program standards and be prepared to write a national examination to obtain a license to practice nursing. You will study Aboriginal practice and special health concerns and work with Aboriginal clients. Graduates can apply for jobs in acute care hospitals, continuing care centers, community care settings, client homes, clinics, or doctors' offices. Practical Nurses earn approximately $13 - $18 per hour.

Admission Requirements

  • Minimum of 60% in English 30 or 60% in English 33
  • TOEFL 560/220 and TSE 200/50 if English is a second language
  • Minimum of 50% in pure Math 20 or 60% in Applied Math 20
  • Minimum of 60% in a 30 level science (Biology, Chemistry or Physics);
    Biology is preferred
  • Clear criminal record check within three months of the program start date
  • Statement of good physical and mental health
  • Up to date immunization may be completed while in the program


Clinical Requirements

  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Basic Rescuer Certificate Level-C
