Extension 245
Program Description
The Aboriginal Child and Family Services program addresses the concerns of First Nations, Metis and Urban Natives as they respond to the redesign of Family and Social Services for children and families as well as the move by First Nations People to provide local control for social programs. All courses will emphasize the influence which family, education, health and culture have on child development. The curriculum will be culturally relevant with practical solutions for meeting the needs for qualified child and family services employees. The Aboriginal Child and Family Services program is designed as a two-year diploma program; however, participants will be provided with the option of exiting with a certificate after successfully completing one year. Graduates of this program will be able to fill employment opportunities with First Nations agencies and provincially funded agencies.
